Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. This two-day, hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers. You don't need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop

Co-sponsored by the UCSB Library, the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity & Ecological Restoration (CCBER), and Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology (EEMB).

Light refreshments will be served.
