COVID-19 Update: While the Library remains closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Interlibrary Loan will continue to provide modified services and will make every effort to fill your requests.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is now borrowing books from other libraries. Starting November 2, requests for physical loans submitted by all ILL user affiliations (faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students) will be processed by ILL staff. The Library is operating with limited on-site staff, so ILL patrons are asked to only request books that are needed for their research. The books will be delivered via the current pickup and mailing service.
In order to take advantage of ILL services, new faculty and staff should request activation of their Library accounts using this online form.
RENEWALS OF ILL ITEMS: Most ILL items checked out prior to October 1, 2020 have been renewed to January 21, 2021 or later in your Library Account and in your My ILL Requests account. For items received after October 1, 2020: We will submit renewal requests unless "NO RENEWALS" appears in front of the title. If the lender does not grant a renewal or recalls the material you will be notified.
The Interlibrary Loan service allows UCSB students, faculty, and staff to borrow from other libraries if items are not available at the UCSB Library. Community patrons and UC alumni are not eligible for UCSB ILL services.
The UCSB Library subscribes to the National Interlibrary Loan Code of the American Library Association as well as to regional agreements, and adheres strictly to copyright law.
