Gaucho Hours
During Gaucho Hours, the Library building is only available to UCSB students, faculty, and staff with a valid campus ID.
Late Night Study
Late Night Study is available to UCSB students, faculty, and staff with a campus ID. You need to use your Access Card (campus ID) at the Paseo West entrance card reader to gain access or to regain access to the building during Late Night Study hours. You also may be asked by Library or security personnel to present your campus ID to verify your status as a UCSB student, faculty, or staff during Late Night Study hours. All non-UCSB affiliates must exit the Library when Late Night Study begins.
The Late Night Study area is staffed by Library personnel and it includes access to study spaces, computers, printers, copy machines, scanners, reference collections, vending machines, a microwave, hydration stations, and restrooms. The Services Desk, including Interlibrary Loan, Course Reserves and access to items in the Technology and More collection, is closed during Late Night Study hours. Building Operations staff are on site during Late Night Study. Study spaces and collection areas above the 2nd floor are inaccessible during most Late Night Study periods. NOTE: Late Night Study is offered for limited hours during summer session and university recess periods.
Study Commons
During the 2025-2026 Academic Year (Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters), the Library will remain open to UCSB students, faculty, and staff from 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM on Sunday-Thursday nights for Study Commons in the Learning Commons on the 1st and 2nd Floors, Mountain Side.
Study Commons is available to UCSB students, faculty, and staff with a campus ID. You also may be asked by University personnel to present your campus ID to verify your status as a UCSB student, faculty, or staff during Study Commons hours.
The Study Commons area is staffed by UCSB Student Safety Partners and it includes access to study spaces, group study rooms, computers, a printer, vending machines, a microwave, a hydration station, and restrooms.
Study Commons is made possible in part through funding support from UCSB Associated Students (AS) and a partnership between the Library and AS, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and the UCSB Police Department.
