Robert Q. Lewis was a comedian, radio disc jockey and broadcaster on radio and television throughout the mid-twentieth century. The bulk of the Robert Q. Lewis Papers spans from around the 1940s up until 1960 including 25 boxes or 21 linear feet of mixed material and provides scripts written for his program The Robert Q. Lewis Show (radio and television), as well as for other shows like Arthur Godfrey Time (radio), The Little Show (radio) and Arthur Godfrey and His Friends (television). The collection also includes unused comedy material, musical scores, correspondence, newspaper clippings and photographs. The programs that Robert Q. Lewis broadcasted on were for NBC and CBS, for which he went back-and-forth throughout is illustrious career. With the decline of network radio and the end of Lewis' CBS programs, he returned to being a disc jockey, working for radio stations KHJ, KFI, and KRLA in Los Angeles at various times in the 1960s and 1970s.
