Research & Teaching Department

The Research & Teaching Department provides in-person and virtual research support and instruction to faculty, researchers, and students at UCSB. As the first point of contact in the research lifecycle, the department is particularly important in helping undergraduate students discover the rich variety of Library resources and develop foundational information literacy skills and competencies for academic research and lifelong learning. Our work is often done in partnership with others in the Library and elsewhere on campus.

Research & Teaching uses a team-based approach to equitably and efficiently respond to the evolving needs of the University. We engage in outreach and communication to academic departments and campus partners, seeking opportunities to increase the use and effectiveness of Library collections, services, and spaces. The Department’s work supports student success, advances open research, and fosters campus collaboration.
