Preservation and digitization are core components of the mission of Special Research Collections both to preserve our unique and rare materials for posterity and to make them more widely accessible by digitizing items for online or mediated electronic access. To facilitate this, Special Research Collections has several preservation and digitization operations.

  • Henri Temianka Audio Preservation Lab - An endowed, world-class lab to preserve and digitize the unique and rare audio materials held by Special Research Collections named in memory of violinist Henri Temianka.

  • Digital Preservation Services - A unit of Special Research Collections to digitize print and paper collections.

  • Audiovisual Lab - Devoted to conservation, preservation, and digitization of moving image materials, the Audiovisual Lab includes equipment to house and stabilize motion picture film and to digitize a variety of common videotape formats.
