Día de Los Muertos Shoebox Altar Workshop
Register now to save your spot!
Celebrate Día de Los Muertos (November 1-2) by creating and decorating your own shoebox altar in the Library's Makerspace. Learn to craft tissue paper flowers and mini papel picado—we'll provide all materials. Please bring one or more printed photos of loved ones who have passed that you'd like to honor.
Completed altars will be displayed at the Ethnic & Gender Studies Collection (2nd Floor, Ocean Side) from October 29-November 3.
To learn more about Día de Los Muertos, explore resources related to the holiday available at the Library, including visual resource from Library digital collections.
This workshop is inspired by the annual Día de Los Muertos celebration sponsored by Self Help Graphics & Art, a cultural arts center and studio in Los Angeles whose archives have been donated to the Library.
