AMI was a Santa Ana based aerial photograph company that was sold to Landiscor Aerial Information. The UCSB Library purchased the collection from Landiscor in 2002. The AMI collection includes photography from 167 flights that cover all or parts of several southern California counties (Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura) between 1947 and 1997. The scale of the majority of the AMI photography is 1:36,000, and there is generally not enough overlap between adjacent photos to form stereopairs. Most of the AMI photography held by the UCSB Library is in the format of black and white prints and transparencies. AMI flight codes typically include a two or three letter county acronym, and a two-digit year, e.g. AMI-SBD-86.
