The Transcultural Exploratorium: Neuro Music and Japanese Culture

Featuring music and video works by composer Gene Coleman, with Fabio Rambelli (UCSB Department of Religion) joining him on stage to play ancient Japanese musical instruments including the shō, the u, and percussion. The performance will offer a full spectrum of Coleman's neuroaesthetic composition methods, his use of Japanese instruments, and his integration of electronics and video art.

The one hour performance will be followed by a conversation with Coleman.
