A codebook (aka data dictionary) describes the structure, contents, and organization of a data file. In this session, we’ll use practical examples to explore key elements of a codebook and how they support clear, reusable documentation across fields — from quantitative research in the sciences to archival and textual work in the humanities.
The Data to Discovery Series is hosted by Research Data Services (RDS) @ the UCSB Library. Every two weeks, we will spotlight a key principle of working with data and engaging in open science.
