Rebecca Greer is the Director of Teaching & Learning at UCSB Library. She holds an M.S. in Library Information Science from the University of Washington and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech. Rebecca holds certificates from the HERS Leadership Institute and IDEO U (Designing Strategy and Activating Strategy). Her professional research interests are the intersections of information literacy, cognitive behavioral psychology, and organizational learning and development. Her recent presentation and publication areas have focused on assessment with digital learning materials and implementation of strategic planning initiatives. She has held numerous service leadership positions to advance localized projects and initiatives for UCSB Library and has served the broader campus in programmatic assessment.
As the Director of Teaching & Learning, she leads a team of staff and librarians to support foundational information literacy for first-year, first-generation students through instruction, digital learning objects, and research consultations. Serving as the liaisons to the Writing Program and the Office of Teaching & Learning, Teaching & Learning partners with campus instructors to provide pedagogical and research support while promoting cross-divisional library user services. The Peer-Assisted Library Services (PALS) student assistants foster an inclusive environment and encourage students to use UCSB Library services and resources.
