Snag Werris was a vaudeville and stage performer and a magician turned comedy writer. He started his writing career as gag man for the vaudeville team Wheeler & Woolsey (Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey) and wrote for radio comics including Eddie Cantor, Ed Wynn, Fred Allen, and George Burns and Gracie Allen. He also wrote for TV series including The Brady Bunch, The Jackie Gleason Show, The Red Skelton Show, The Colgate Comedy Hour, and Hawaii Five-O, and write the movie screenplays for Four Jills in a Jeep, Take it or Leave It, and If I’m Lucky.
