Renewals

You may renew materials through “My Library Account” up to 10 times beyond their initial due date, unless they have been recalled. To renew items an 11th time, you must bring them in to either the UCSB Library or the Music Library for processing and then you can check them out again.

Recalls

The UCSB Library or our Interlibrary Loan lenders can recall materials that are checked out to library borrowers. Academic libraries conduct business year-round so items may be recalled at any time. Recalled items are due back in 3 weeks or less.

Recalled items not returned by the due date printed on the recall notice will begin accruing fines. Recall fines are $1.00 per day for overdue recalls.

Recalls for Course Reserves

Items recalled by Course Reserves must be returned in 5 days, regardless of when they were checked out. Items not returned by the new recall due date are subject to fines. Being out of town does not excuse recall fines.

Requesting that the Library Purchase a Book

The UCSB Library welcomes suggestions for additions to the collections.  Contact the appropriate Subject Specialist or use the online suggestion form to recommend a book.

Interlibrary Loan

Students, faculty, and staff may use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to request material from another UC library, provided UCSB does not own it or it is checked out. Non-UCSB borrowers are not eligible to use the UCSB Library’s ILL service, but may request items from their local public library.
