On July 1, 2025, the UC Libraries will migrate to a new Interlibrary Loan (ILL) management system. The new system will make it easier for patrons to view and manage transactions by merging the contents of My ILL Requests into My Library Account, creating a single platform for patrons to view all active ILL and circulation requests and loans, place renewal requests, and view fines and fees. There will be no change to the current ILL request process through UC Library Search, the blank ILL form, or the manual request form.
Beginning on July 1, all newly submitted ILL requests will be viewable solely through My Library Accounts. Requests placed prior to July 1 will still be viewable in My ILL Requests for a limited time. My ILL Requests accounts will officially be discontinued in December 2025.
Patrons are kindly asked to assist UCSB Library with this transition by returning all physical ILL items requested before July 1 by the due dates printed on their blue ILL bookstraps.
The ILL system migration project is a joint effort between ILL teams at all ten UC campus libraries, the two UC Systemwide Library Facilities, and the California Digital Library. It serves to modernize the staff-side of ILL management by moving to a platform that better supports UC’s borrowing and lending needs.
If you have questions about these changes or would like additional information, please contact library-ill@ucsb.edu and we will be happy to assist you.
