BioOne and University of California Sign Open Access Agreement

Five-year agreement will deliver access to UC researchers and support sustainable open access for independent nonprofit publishers

The University of California (UC) and BioOne announced the signing of a five-year agreement to bring the flagship BioOne Complete aggregation to 9 UC campuses and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory through 2029. Notably, this agreement includes the full term of BioOne’s Subscribe to Open (S2O) pilot from 2026 through 2028. This extended partnership advances the mutual goals of sustainable open access and equitable scholarly communications.

IOP Publishing and University of California Sign Open Access Agreement

IOP Publishing (IOPP) and the University of California (UC) today announced a new transformative open access agreement that will accelerate publishing and expand access to high-quality research in physics and related disciplines. The three-year agreement will make it easier and more affordable for UC researchers to publish open access articles in all of IOPP’s owned journals and most of its partner journals, a total of 77 titles, and will advance the university’s efforts to empower more of its authors to share their research freely with the world.

New UC Open Access Agreements with IEEE and Nature

The University of California announced two new open access publishing agreements today. The first supports open access publishing with the technical professional organization IEEE, which is among the largest publishers of UC research. The other is an extension of UC’s 2020 agreement with Springer Nature that adds funding support for open access publishing in the prestigious Nature journals; previously only titles in the Springer portfolio were eligible.

New Open Access Agreement Between UC and SAGE Publishing

The University of California has entered into a two-year transformative open access agreement with SAGE Publishing. The agreement runs from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024, and covers open access publishing and reading access to SAGE’s hybrid and fully open access journals. The agreement includes open access publishing of an unlimited number of articles by corresponding authors at all ten UC campuses and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and provides researchers throughout the UC system with expanded reading access to the full portfolio of SAGE journals.
