 This event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 campus closure. 
 
In 1954, UC Santa Barbara (then known as Santa Barbara College of the University of California) relocated from the city proper and found a home in a former Marine Corps airbase used in World War II. So began the transformation of barracks into buildings to become what today is UCSB. 
 
Dennis Whelan, UCSB associate campus architect will present a walking tour of campus.  Tour will begin with an introduction to UCSB Library’s exhibition Campus by the Sea: Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of UCSB by Matt Stahl, University Archivist and lead curator of the exhibition.
 
• 12:00 noon to 12:20pm, Friday, May 29: Exhibition Tour in Special Research Collections (3rd Floor, Mountain Side).  
• 12:20pm to 2:00pm, Friday, May 29: Campus historical buildings walking tour leaving from UCSB Library, Special Research Collections (3rd Floor, Mountain Side).
