UC Library Search

UC Library Search went live at UCSB on July 27, 2021, providing a centralized discovery tool to search and browse materials from all 10 UC libraries. Changes are still underway. In fact, those of you who use Google Scholar will need to update your settings to be properly directed to any full text made available through UCSB Library. 

It has been almost one month since UC Library Search replaced UCSB Library Search and Melvyl, making it possible for you to find and borrow materials from UC campus libraries using one simple discovery tool. 

It’s finally here -- UC Library Search is live! UC Library users now have access to a more robust discovery tool powered by Ex Libris Alma/Primo that allows you to find and borrow materials from across all UC campus library locations. UC Library Search has now replaced Melvyl and UCSB Library Search.

We’re in the final stretch! After four years of planning and preparation, UC Library Search, the new system-wide integrated library system, is about to go live.

On July 27, 2021, UC Library Search will permanently replace Melvyl and all UC library catalogs as the search tool for all ten UC campus libraries, making it easier to locate materials across the UC system.

On July 27, 2021, UC Library Search will unite all UC campus libraries. Current UCSB students, staff, and faculty, will no longer need to log into UCSB Library Search, Melvyl, and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) separately to find the resources they need. It will be easier for users to see what they have borrowed, request extensions, and manage their account for all of their loans with a single login, saving the user time and effort.
