Study Areas in the UCSB Libraries

General Study Space
General study space provides patrons with carrels and tables for individual study. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that the high traffic areas near our service desks are not conducive to quiet study.
orange bullet Locations: 1st, 2nd, and 4th through 8th floors. Wireless information.
orange bullet 24-hour study room: Just to the left of the library's front entrance. Food is allowed! Wireless, laptop ports, and snack machines available.
Group Discussion Rooms
These rooms offer a private, enclosed atmosphere for your study group. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Most rooms are equipped with a chalkboard and chalk.

Quiet Study Areas
Generally, floors 4-8 are quiet study floors. Two floors in the building have rooms that are specially designated to be quiet. In these rooms, cell phones and talking are prohibited.
orange bullet 2nd floor: A very quiet room is on the northeast side in the Science Library. Keyboarding is prohibited here. Other quiet areas on this floor are in the book stack areas along the perimeter of the building.
orange bullet 8th floor: The Pacific View Room and the book stack area on this floor are very quiet areas with nice views of the ocean and mountains.
Arts Library
General study space with carrels and tables for individual study, as well as small lounge areas with casual seating, can be found on both the 1st and 2nd floors. These spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wireless is available in the Arts Library. Food, drink, and cell phones are prohibited.

Honors Students

Lockers
Small book lockers are available to graduate and honors students. More information

Faculty and Graduate Students

Faculty Study Carrels
There are a limited number of faculty study carrels available for faculty research use. More information
Graduate Study Carrels
Individual study areas are available for students who have formally advanced to candidacy. More information
Graduate Study Space
orange bullet 8th floor: Located in the lobby, this room has comfortable seating and wireless access.
orange bullet We have two small study rooms available for individual or group use (2-3 people) for graduate students on a day-by-day reservation basis. Inquire at the Circulation Desk for information.
Lockers
Small book lockers are available to graduate and honors students. More information
