The first big UCSB Reads event is coming up on Wednesday, January 30 at 7pm with a screening of the classic film, "Rain Man," followed by a Q&A with screenwriter, Barry Morrow. The Dustin Hoffman character in the film is based on a real person that Joshua Foer writes about in "Moonwalking with Einstein," the UCSB Reads 2013 selection. Lynn and Bob Koegel from UCSB's Koegel Autism Center will offer a 10 minute introduction to the movie, putting this 25th anniversary screening of "Rain Man" and our cultural understanding of autism in context. This event is being co-sponsored with the Carsey-Wolf Center and the Film & Media Studies Department.
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance at http://www.carseywolf.ucsb.edu/pollock/events/script-screen-presents-25th-anniversary-best-picture-winner-rain-man.
