Project Gutenberg is one of the earliest attempts to provide widespread access to public domain books via the Internet. As of May 2010, it offers over 30,000 works, adding about 150 per month. Files are in plain ASCII text, HTML, ePub and Mobipocket (among others) formats for personal computers, smartphones and digital reading devices. Its catalog is searchable by author, title words, subject, language, Library of Congress call letters, and full text keywords.
