Stack of books

After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) resumed borrowing books from other libraries on Monday, October 19.

UCSB students, faculty, and staff can request loans. The Library is operating with limited on-site staff, so faculty and students are asked to only request books that are needed for their research. The books will be delivered via the current pickup and mailing service.

Articles and book chapters from other libraries will continue to be delivered electronically.

As borrowing of physical materials starts back up, it will be operating within a small pool of participating libraries. Other UC libraries are not yet open for lending but we expect them to resume ILL over the course of the fall.

The ILL requesting service opened to faculty and graduate students on Oct. 12 and expanded to UCSB staff and undergraduates on Nov. 2.
