The process to get a green badge is different depending on your UCSB affiliation. The two processes are described below.

View the UCSB Return to Campus Requirements with full details.

For undergraduate students:

To get a green clearance badge, you must:

  1. Complete and pass the COVID-19 screening survey through the UCSB Student Health portal

  2. Have a negative COVID-19 test within the last seven (7) days

Clearance badges can be produced on your cellphone through the UCSB Student Health portal.

If you are not already receiving the daily COVID-19 screening survey, you can turn this feature on (or off) within the Student Health Portal. See the instructions for how to turn it on.

You can make a COVID-19 testing appointment through the UCSB Student Health portal.

See instructions for how to schedule a COVID-19 test.

Asymptomatic testing is available at no charge to UCSB students at the campus’s Loma Pelona Center and in the Linda Vista Room at Santa Catalina residence hall.

Testing is provided on weekdays, except on official holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please note: Testing laboratories cannot guarantee a 72-hour turnaround time for results.

Regardless of an individual's vaccination status, testing is still required for undergraduate students. This will continue to be the case until we receive further guidance from the CDC and from state and local health officials.

Please note: If you tested POSITIVE in the past 90 days, but your badge is showing as overdue for testing, this is due to an issue related to the badge system. To have your badge cleared as quickly as possible, call the COVID-19 Call Center at (805) 893-3113 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or email ucsb-covid19@ucsb.edu.

For UCSB faculty, staff, and graduate students:

Enroll in the Daily COVID-19 Screening survey online.

You must complete and pass the screening that is emailed to you each day to get a green badge.

The clearance badge will be emailed to you. You can present this email to Library staff when you check in.

Weekly COVID-19 testing is recommended, but not required.
