UCSB Library invites you to an opening talk and reception celebrating its new exhibition "Anguish, Anger, and Activism," which examines the connections between the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and environmental activism in the local area.  There will be an opportunity to view the exhibition with UCSB librarians and curators Kristen LaBonte and Annie Platoff.

Marc McGinnes, one of the founders of the local environmental movement, will invite conversation about the central role that the Santa Barbara community has played in launching and sustaining the environmental movement during the past 50 years, as well as about the work of the environmental movement in Santa Barbara and beyond during the coming 50 years.  The title of his talk is "The Role of the Santa Barbara Community in Launching and Sustaining the Environmental Movement: 1969-2069."

Co-sponsored with UCSB Environmental Studies Department.

This event is free and open to the public.
