Please join us at the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration (CCBER) for an open house and tours of their Natural History Collection, which includes the UCSB herbarium of over 125,000 plant specimens. In collaboration with UCSB Reads, a program of the UCSB Library, and its 2018 book selection Lab Girl, Dr. Jennifer Thorsch will say a few words about the Collection’s acclaimed women botanists whose various collections are proudly housed at CCBER. These women include Dr. Katherine Esau, Dr. Shirley Tucker, Dr. Susan Mazer and Dr. Jennifer Thorsch.

During the open house, field guides, native plant gardening books and more will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. In addition, the first 20 people at the event will get a free copy of the UCSB Reads 2018 selection Lab Girl by Hope Jahren.
