This workshop will be taught by An Bui, a graduate student in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology who broadly focuses on community composition and function in the context of global climate change. She will introduce the basics of community analysis in the R package vegan and work through some of the most useful functions within the package with data in a format that is typically used in community ecology. The workshop is designed for anyone who has not used the package previously, so everyone is welcome!

EcoDataScience is an environmental data science study group at UCSB. This volunteer-driven group provides hands-on, lunch-time workshops on various data science tools relevant to environmental science. Lessons in the past have included Spatial Analysis in R, an introduction to Python, advanced GitHub and building R Shiny applications. All sessions take place at the UCSB Library Collaboratory and anyone is welcome to sign up to attend. Lunch is provided.
