The Department of Special Collections’ exhibition, “Cultural Aspects of Death,” was held in conjunction with activities sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Humanities Center and the University Art Museum. Included in the exhibition were a selection of materials such as Day of the Dead items from CEMA (including the above print); 19th century catalogs of cemetery markers and monuments from the Romaine Collection; materials dealing with death, near death experiences and euthanasia from the American Religions Collection; woodcuts and illustrations from the Skofield Printers Collection; funeral marches and sermons from the Wyles Collection; broadsides, posters and books of literary works on death from other parts of Special Collections.
