Dorothy Imrich Mullin is a lecturer and Ph.D. candidate in the
Department of
Communication at UCSB. Her broad research area is mass media effects,
with a particular focus on issues of the mass media and law. She has
studied the effects of pretrial publicity on jury decision making,
children's reactions to fearful media presentations, and the effects of
pornography on men's reactions to women. Her most recent work has
centered on the legal and social science issues surrounding government
regulation of indecency, both in broadcasting and in online communication.
