Doralyn H. Edwards is a Data Librarian for Fondren Library
and
for the Center for Technology in Teaching and Learning at Rice University,
Houston, Texas. Her MSLS degree is from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, where she also earned her BA. Previously, she worked as a
Systems and Reference Librarian at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Currently at Rice, Doralyn serves in a newly created position designed for
developing electronic services using CD-ROMs, Internet, and GIS to support
Rice users. She works in Rice's Gardiner Symonds Teaching Laboratory to
help faculty develop courses using the video, audio, and Internet
resources available to this Lab. Currently, she is working to help the
library find more ways of meeting the data and GIS needs of the Rice
community. Along with another Rice librarian, she teaches Internet
searching classes to a wide-variety of groups. Doralyn is active in ALA,
particularly on committees dealing with emerging technologies in GODORT,
ACRL, and RUSA.
