BILLS AND BILL STATUS

Bills are drafts of laws which propose new laws, or amend or repeal existing law.

  • Bill information. 1993-
    • Text of bills, resolutions, and constitutional amendments, their status, history, votes, analyses, and veto messages.
    • Search by keyword or author, or browse list of bills by session.
  • Older bills are available in the Statutes of California if they were chaptered (became law).

      • The Daily Journals are the official records of the proceedings of each house. They contain the action taken on all measures considered by the Senate or Assembly, and the votes taken on motions and resolutions. Legislative debate is not published.
      • The Daily Journals are indexed by the Senate/Assembly History.

  • Senate and Assembly Daily File
    The Daily File contains the Order of Business, the tentative schedule for the entire legislative session, bills which are scheduled to be heard on the floor and during committee hearings, and committee membership.
