WATER RESOURCES NETSITES
(Cambridge Scientific Abstracts' RouteNet Series)
Reference Guide
For an awe-inspiring list of online resources in water resources, go to:
http://www.library.ucsb.edu/eresources/databases/
Then scroll down to "Water Resources RouteNet" and click on it.
ASSOCIATIONS
Provides both a link to the association's homepage, and a description of the
resource (click to the icon to the left of the association's name).
BIBLIOGRAPHIC AND OTHER DATABASES
The heart of this website, it does unfortunately contain some dead links (e.g.,
"Bibliographies for California Rivers"), sites that since a project is not longer
funded no longer function (e.g., "Selected Water Resources Abstracts, 1939
present"), sites that seem not to be functioning (e.g., the "WRSIC" portion of the
UNWIN site, "Water Resources Scientific Information Center Research Abstracts"),
and plain, ordinary typos. But overall, a very useful section. BE
WARNED: if you are looking for "Water Resources Abstracts", what you
need is NOT this site, but rather
http://www.csa2.com/htbin/dbrng.cgi?username=ucsb&access=ucsb408&cat=aquatic
CONFERENCE INFORMATION
Not in alphabetical order, but otherwise ok.
DATASETS
Includes both a description of the resource and a link to it. Some repetition
from other sections of this site.
DISCUSSION GROUPS AND LISTSERVS
NEWSLETTERS
REFERENCE MATERIALS
Includes several dictionaries, glossaries, atlases, and even a link to the
periodic table of the elements.
REPORTS AND PUBLICATIONS
One suspects that this is the bin that holds any resource that wouldn't fit
anywhere else. Everything from annual reports to publications lists to, e.g.,
"Decline of Zebra Mussels in the Lower Illinois River."
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
Includes both a link to the resource and a description of that resource (and a
typo or two).
WATER RESOURCES PROFESSIONALS
Includes both a link to the resource and a description of that resource. Regional
and state (U.S.), national and global lists.
