    Contains 210 publications (32,000 pages) in the fields of Agriculture and Land Management, Development, Environment and Sustainability, Food and Nutrition, Natural Resource Development, Science and Technology.
  • Columbia Earthscape "An online resource on the global environment."
    Includes journals, books, lectures, and working papers. Accessible via ucsb.edu.
  • ENVIROnetBASE
    Currently, over 130 handbooks from a wide range of areas including air pollution, pesticides, occupational safety, oil spills, wetlands, and environmental chemistry are available; browsable by table of contents, or keyword searchable, either individually or combined. Accessible via ucsb.edu.
  • Handbook of Environmental Chemistry
    The Handbook publishes themed volumes in this young and interdisciplinary field of science. Its aim is a complete description of the environment and of transformations occurring on a local or global scale. Environmental chemistry also gives an account on the impact of man's activities on the natural environment by describing observed changes. Volumes from late 1999-present are available online.   • National Environmental Publications Information System (NEPIS)
    A database of over 7,000 full text EPA documents.
  • The National Library for the Environment
    A project of the Committee for the National Institute for the Environment (CNIE) which includes over 1,100 full-text Congressional Research Service reports on environmental issues.
  • Online Rand Research Documents: Environment and Energy
    This site has a collection of free books published by the RAND organization, a "think tank" supplying analyses for policy development in a wide variety of areas including this link to areas of environment and energy. The database is also searchable by author, title word, or words in the abstract.

    A list of over 300 environmental journals, half of which contain abstracts; over 40 are full text.

  • ECOTOX Database System from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
    The database integrates three toxicology effects databases, used to locate single chemical toxicity data for aquatic life, terrestrial plants and wildlife. Search for research reports by chemical name, species name, or environmental effect.
  • TOXLINE
    An index to articles, technical reports, papers and reports, produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, covering all areas of toxicology including chemicals, pesticides, chemically-induced diseases, hazardous materials, and genotoxicity.
  • TOXNET "a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas."
  • RTK Net: The Right-to-Know Network
    A network providing free access to databases, documents, and conferences on the environment, such as to the Toxic Release Inventory.
  • Scorecard
    "A chemical information service provided by the Environmental Defense Fund. Here you can get information quickly about the toxic chemicals that manufacturers are releasing into your community."
  • EPA Zip Code Search
    A simple search by zip code of these Environmental Protection Agency databases will produce a list of all known hazardous waste sites, as well as general environmental conditions and trends for any neighborhood in the United States. The user can also create a map of regulated sites within the area of choice, as well as assess the condition of any watershed.
