Literary Criticism Research Guide

The word "criticism" comes from the Greek kriitkos, meaning to judge. The term "literary criticism", then, refers to ways of judging what you read. Any study devoted to the comparison, analysis, interpretation, or evaluation of literature can be considered literary criticism. It can be positive, negative, or a mixture of both, but it always involves an in-depth analysis and can be a valuable means of helping you understand and interpret the work you are reading.
