Reproduction Policy

All users must fill out a letter of indemnification to obtain copies or reproductions. The form is available at the registration desk for our reading room for local patrons. For mail reference, download the form here. If you are unable to use pdf files, contact us and we will mail you the form.
  1. Permission to photocopy does not constitute permission to publish. Photocopies are supplied for research purposes only. Materials may be protected by copyright law (Title 17 U.S. Code).

  2. Permission to reproduce an item is determined on an item-by-item basis. To protect bound volumes, photocopying will only be done one page per copy. For purposes of preservation, fragile and particularly rare items will not be photocopied. Scanning or photographing may be possible in lieu of photocopies. We will help you determine this at the time of your request. Additional charges will apply to reproductions made by scanning and photographing. Please see our Overview of Duplication Policy for futher information.

  3. Photocopying will be done by Special Collections staff only, as time permits. No requests will be completed within 15 minutes of closing. For in-person requests, copy cards are required.

  4. No more than 10% of any printed item will be copied. Additional restrictions may apply to some materials, based upon copyright law and prior donor agreements.

  5. No more than 10% or 200 pages, whichever is less, will be copied from any manuscript collection. Additional restrictions may apply to some materials, based upon copyright law and prior donor agreements.

Any questions about our reproduction policy should be referred to the Reading Room Manager.
