Proxy Configuration: Mac Operating System 10.x (most browsers)

We are transitioning to a new proxy server. Using the new proxy requires no set-up on your part, but anyone who used the old proxy server ** must ** undo the set-up for your browser before using the new one.

Follow the instructions below to undo the old proxy set-up.

These instructions apply to Safari, Camino, Opera, and Internet Explorer.

Note:  You may find it easier to print out these directions before you begin.

  1. Open your Apple Menu and Select "System Preferences

  2. Step 1 set up

  3. In the System Preferences folder, click on the "Network" icon

  4. Step 2 set up

  5. In the Network settings, go to the location that you configured to use the proxy server. If you are using an airport, set "Show" to "airport". For a cable modem or DSL line, set "Show" to "built-in ethernet".

    The select the "Proxies" tab.

Please note that your screen will reflect your unique IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, and Ethernet Address.

  6. Step 3 set up

  7. In the Proxies tab, delete "ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu" from the input box and "9000" from the "Port" box. Uncheck the "Web Proxy (HTTP)" box. Then select the "Apply Now" button and you are finished.

  8. Step 4 set up
