Anne visits Santa Rosa de Lima
On a May 2004 trip to Peru Anne stops to see the hut where Santa Rosa de Lima used to practice self-mortification.

I joined UCSB's Davidson Library in November 2002, moving across the country from a small town called Easton, Pennsylvania.

Before going to college, I spent a year in Caracas, Venezuela as an AFS student and, as the quote goes, "así me nació la conciencia." After Venezuela my worldview was completely different. I went to Indiana University in Bloomington and double-majored in Spanish & Portuguese and Religious Studies while also earning a certificate in Latin American & Caribbean Studies. I stayed at Indiana and received an M.A. Indiana University in Latin American & Caribbean Studies and another M.A. in Religious Studies. Then I was a little burned out on grad school so I spent about 9 months living in southern Chile (based in Temuco). After that break I got my M.S. in Library and Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

My office is located on the 5th floor of Davidson Library (5520-G). To find me, go into the East Asian Collection bookstacks and my office is located about half-way down on the mountain-side of the building.

In addition to my UCSB responsibilities, I developed and taught a course through the University of Illinois' Graduate School of Library and Information Science on Latin American, Iberian and Latina/o Studies Librarianship. This course was first offered in Spring 2008 and will be repeated either in 2009 or 2010. If you would like more information, please contact me or UIUC.

I am active in SALALM (Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials) and LASA (Latin American Studies Association). I am also a member of ACRL (Association of College & Research Libraries) and NACCS (National Association of Chicana and Chicano Studies). See my Curriculum Vitae for more information about my professional activities and publications.

In addition to being an activist librarian I enjoy traveling, running and taking my dogs to the beaches of Santa Barbara. Traveling is my main vice and I love having a career that allows me to feed my passions.
