We’ve extended the UCSB Library Quality Survey (LibQUAL+) a few more weeks since we have not yet received enough responses for a valid sample of our users. If you received an email from libqual2013 [at] library [dot] ucsb [dot] edu on April 22 with an invitation to participate, please help our research efforts by taking ten minutes to complete the survey. UCSB Library Ranks in Top 15 for "Most Social Media Friendly"
LibraryScienceList.com searched the most popular social media platforms looking for libraries that are actively using their accounts to promote library events, notify students of new materials, or interact with patrons in other ways. UCSB Library ranked #15 out of 100 most social media friendly college and university libraries for 2013.
Library Celebrates 1500 Likes on Facebook
On Tuesday, April 24 at 15:00 (3pm), the Library celebrated the milestone of reaching 1500 likes on Facebook. UCSB Library Facebook friends were alerted to the party in advance via the social media site. Others passing through the main Library lobby were surprised to find free slices of cake being distributed by Library staff.

Exhibit: World Comics
Currently on view on the Library's first floor is a comics exhibit curated by Art History Professor Miriam Wattles and her seminar 186RW students in conjunction with the 2013 Regents’ Lecture by Scott McCloud. Comics, caricature, graphic narrative, visual storytelling – whatever we call it, this medium has compelled readers for hundreds of years.
California Assembly Bill 609: Taxpayer Access to Publicly Funded Research
California Assembly Bill 609, introduced by Assemblymember Brian Nestande, will require that taxpayer-funded research be made publicly available. The bill will ensure that the public can access the published results of taxpayer-funded research for free. Read any good books lately? The UCSB Library wants your book suggestions for our 2014 UCSB Reads program. The ideal book is intellectually engaging, appeals to a wide range of readers, and presents issues that generate discussion on broad themes. The book should be by a living author who can be scheduled to visit UCSB.
