Improved Digital Microfilm Scanners Installed

New ScanPro 3000 microfilm scanners were recently installed: four on the 2nd floor of Davidson Library and one in the Music Library. Some features of the digital ScanPro 3000 machines are:

  • high-resolution optics
  • on-screen magnification
  • advanced OCR technology in almost any language
  • ability to create word searchable PDFs

Library staff can assist anyone with the new machines.

The Open Access Policy Implementation (OAPI) Project wiki is a public space that allows UC faculty, librarians, and other stakeholders to track implementation planning activities, timelines, and deliverables concerning the UC Open Access Policy that the Academic Senate adopted on July 24, 2013. The wiki reflects the current status of the project and will continue to be updated as it evolves.

Aerial Photography Collection: Tea Fire

The Map & Imagery Lab is home to a large collection of aerial photography.  Our collection documents some fascinating bits of history, including before and after views of natural disasters.  In the photos below, you’ll see some of the damage along Mountain Drive caused by the 2008 Tea Fire.  The first image shows the area several years before the fire, while the second image was taken just days after the fire was contained. 

Interlibrary Loan Government Documents for Community Requests Form

Most of the government documents collection is in storage during the UCSB Library Renovation project.  If you are a non-UCSB patron, use this form to request a government document owned by the UCSB Library that is currently "Unavailable."  You can identify these by using the UCSB Library Catalog.  Ask at the Reference/Information desk for assistance.

Please include all required and relevant information requested.  Lack of information on the request form may delay or preclude the filling of your request.

Vote in the First Annual "Art of Science" Competition
