Researchers who use the UCSB campus VPN (virtual private network) to access Library subscription resources from off-campus should be aware that Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) has upgraded the service.  The new VPN supports a wider variety of operating systems, including mobile clients for iOS, Android, and ChromeOS.  To use the new VPN, users must download and install new client software.

During a 4-week transition period the old “OpenVPN” client will continue to work, but users must download and install the new VPN client before Monday, March 6, 2017.  Documentation about the new VPN service, along with instructions for installation and usage of the new VPN client software, is available on the ETS website.

The campus proxy server and departmentally-administered VPNs are not affected by this change.
