University Librarian Signs Last Beam for New Construction

On June 25, University Librarian Denise Stephens participated in a topping off ceremony with our construction firm by signing the last beam that is to be added to the Library Addition.

Additional Seating Added to Floors 5 & 6

66 new seats have been added to the 6th floor and 48 to the 5th floor.

Additional Study Space on 7th Floor

7th floor remodel adds 76 study seats plus tables

8th Floor Graduate Study Room Closed for Several Weeks

The 8th floor Graduate Study Room is inaccessible through approximately March 14 due to construction.

2-Story Building Closed for Renovation

The UCSB Library's 2-story historic building has been officially closed to the public. That part of the Library will undergo renovations and will not re-open until the Library Addition & Renovation Project is completed, two 1/2 years from now.

Library Building Project Featured in Museum Exhibition

Currently on view at UCSB's Art, Design & Architecture Museum is "Unbuilt UCSB," an exhibition that displays building projects and designs that were intended for the UC Santa Barbara campus but never constructed or have yet to be completed.

MIL Move!

MIL has moved to our new temporary home on the south end of the 1st floor.

SEL Collection Getting Ready to Move

When the Library Addition and Renovation Project begins in mid-June, we will be emptying the existing two-story building. Much of the material in the Sciences-Engineering Library will go into temporary storage.

Power Is Moving In

The Library is adding 53 tables with power to the 4-story and 8-story buildings.
