The Department of Special Collections is pleased to announce an exhibition highlighting the history of the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions.

On display were a selection of non-book materials covering the Civil War, Westward Expansion, and the Gold Rush in California and Alaska.

Co-curated by Lyn Korenic, Lydia Emard, and Barbara Millett, this collection of Mail Art was generously donated to the Arts Library by Santa Barbara tattoo artist (and former mail artist) Pat Fish.

In the summer of 1996 Special Collections presented the exhibit entitled, “The UCSB Campus: From Schoolhouse to University.” The focus of the display was on the physical development of the Goleta campus, but also included the earlier campuses.
