Library Receives $239K to Catalog Historic Sound Recordings

The UCSB Library just received $239,600 from the Mellon-funded "Cataloging Hidden Special Collections and Archives awards program" administered by the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR). The program supports the identification and cataloging of special collections and archives of high scholarly value that are difficult or impossible to locate. The Library will catalog 18,000 discs from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, France, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, and Spain that date from 1900 to 1960.
