12-month Esri Software Licenses: 2016
This page details Esri's 12-month 'student trial' software. All UCSB students, faculty, and staff are eligible to install a special version of the ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced and ArcGIS Pro on their own personal computers. This software is not for use on UC-owned equipment.
ArcGIS 10.2.2 to 10.4
Obtain Your EVA Code
Obtain a license code by emailing //milrefdesk [at] library [dot] ucsb [dot] edu from a UCSB email address. Activate this code on Esri's website. If you do not have an Esri Global Account, you will be prompted to create one. This account is separate from the UCSB netID you use to login to ArcGIS Online!
10.3 Installer Details
MIL provides 12-month licenses that will allow you to install any 10.x version of ArcGIS Desktop. Installers up to 10.4 are available to download directly from Esri. 10.3 installers are available in MIL. You may use our DVDs to install on your laptop while visiting, or make a copy of the installation files on your own media. The 10.3 installer is 5 gigabytes--therefore you will need an NTFS-formatted USB stick or portable hard drive, or bring a blank DVD--you can use our burner.
This is a complete version of the software, with the same extensions that are available on campus.
Upgrading from an older version?
The installer should sense the older version of ArcGIS for desktop and upgrade it, however some users report trouble using this method. You may wish to uninstall the previous version rather than upgrade. If you run into trouble, don't hesitate to ask for help at //milrefdesk [at] library [dot] ucsb [dot] edu.
ArcGIS Pro 1.1
ArcGIS Pro is Esri's new 64-bit application that supports both 2d and 3d mapping, and integrates tightly with ArcGIS Online. You do not need an EVA license code to install. Rather your ArcGIS Online account is configured to authorise use of ArcGIS Pro. If you want to run ArcGIS Pro, follow these steps:
- Obtain the installer from MIL. You can use our DVD while you are here, or copy the installer to a thumb drive or portable hard drive (it is 600MB)
- If you have never logged on to ArcGIS Online with your UCSB netID, do so now.
- Send e-mail to jonjab [at] library [dot] ucsb [dot] edu and ask to have your ArcGIS Online account authorized for ArcGIS Pro.
- Install ArcGIS Pro and authenticate with your UCSB netID when prompted.
