Digital Production Services

The Digital Production Services group provides scanning, camera capture, and inkjet printing services to the library, faculty, and students, and works collaboratively with other UCSB departments and outside entities creating digital files. Our primary service is collection support, creating digital surrogates of library materials to be used for access and discovery, and protecting the rare and fragile originals. We offer consulting services to best determine how and when physical objects are digitized, how best to incorporate access metadata and how to store and preserve the digital files. Our expanding role is to help design and implement a repository for our files, so that they are available any time, completely accessible to search and discovery tools.
