Personnel Announcements
Be sure to say "hello and welcome" to the following people who joined
the library's personnel roster in January:
- Bangwei Zhu started her 50% Library Assistant II
position in the Authority
Control section of CatalAcq on January 25. Bangwei had been a student
assistant in our East Asian Collections and also a teaching assistant and
research assistant while attending graduate school. She recently earned an
MA in East Asian Studies. Bangwei was a lecturer at Nanjing Normal
University for 10 years before she came to UCSB. Most recently she was a
Teaching Assistant in the Dept. of East Asian Studies and a Student
Library Assistant in the East Asian Collection.
We're glad to have you with us, Bangwei!
- Susan Duncan started January 26 as the department
secretary for CatalAcq, in
a 50% Library Assistant II position (you will find her there from 8:30-12:30 on
weekdays). For the past five years, she has been office manager
for Murray Duncan Architects in Santa Barbara. Susan
worked here at UCSB in the Military Science department in the 80s, and prior
to that, she was employed as a customer service representative for the
Franchise Tax Board. Welcome (back) to UCSB, Susan!
We're sad to say goodbye to Cecile Brown, whose last day was January 29.
She had been working in the Cataloging section of Serials. Good luck,
Cecile!
Martha Casarez
has replaced Kim Thompson as the head of the Order Section
in Serials, effective January 15. Martha has worked at the Library in a
number of different positions for over 13 years. Most recently she has
been an integral member of the Order Section team. Congratulations,
Martha!

Correction: Last issue, we introduced the new assistant in
Special Collections. Everything we said about her
was true, but we neglected to properly spell her last name. Our apologies go
to Florence Sanchez and take this opportunity to welcome
her again!

Personnel Office's web page
