Have you witnessed a colleague being awesome at work lately?
The Employee Engagement Team (EET) is very excited to announce the Living the Values Employee Recognition Program commencing January 2014!
The purpose of the Living the Values program is to recognize our library personnel who are living the Library’s stated six core values, namely Collaboration, Diversity, Integrity, Innovation, Leadership, and, Research and Learning. These values are listed on the Mission, Vision, and Values webpage, at http://www.library.ucsb.edu/about-library/mission-vision-values.
The Living the Values program will focus on each value for two months, switching to the next value thereafter. Any library employee can nominate individuals they see or have seen (going back to the past year) demonstrating the current focus value. Nominations can be submitted through a form in which nominators must describe why the nominated person deserves to be recognized by describing how they portray that specific value on-the-job. A link to the nomination forms will be placed on the Library’s website and in an email. Throughout the two-month period, employees can be nominated any number of times, so ‘catch’ your colleagues Living the Values!
All nominated employees will receive a Value Button representing the value which they were recognized as portraying, an announcement and bi-monthly group picture in the UCSB Library Newsletter, and their names posted on the public digital screens. All nominations for the past two months will be entered into a prize draw, which will be administered by different library departments on a rotating basis. One randomly drawn nominee will win a $75 gift certificate from the UCSB Book Store.
There will be a party at the six months mark when the entire library will celebrate all nominees and the nominators.
The fun doesn’t stop there! At the end of the year, the six nominees with the highest number of nominations from all of the bi-monthly values will have breakfast with the University Librarian. This will be a great opportunity to recognize the winners, and to meet and mingle with colleagues and share ideas for library enhancement.
