"This is an exciting and pivotal time for the UCSB Library. We are at a point in time when a library is far more than a repository of books. It is a meeting place or commons for the exchange of inquiry, where curiosity can be satisfied using various existing and emerging technologies, where the lifecycle of information in any format is made accessible to a changing and diverse community of scholars. The new UCSB Library facility and the services it enables will ensure that students and faculty do not want for resources, tools, or the expertise necessary to accomplish their work. As we re-imagine the UCSB Library to stand at the intellectual and cultural crossroads of this University, we also hope to stand among the best research university libraries in the country."
