Enter the Crossroads

Every day, thousands rely on the library’s open doors. With nearly two million visits a year, the library is a dynamic microcosm of the university where students spend the bulk of their time outside the classroom. The library serves over 22,000 students and faculty where and when they need it: with overnight study spaces, 24/7 online assistance, and access to myriad internet resources. A place of refuge and discovery, central to students’ university experience, the library’s commitment to the campus community has not wavered since it was built in 1952.
Now imagine being welcomed into a light-filled complex that inspires a sense of greatness. The new building supports increased enrollment and the changing ways information is organized, accessed, and utilized. The new work environments are being created for people. Shaped by the way faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students interact new spaces emphasize digital access and flexible, collaborative thinking and serious engagement with ideas.
This construction project, made possible by a $76 million state bond fund provides for the bricks and mortar of the essential space. Additionally, we are seeking private support to supply the newly-created spaces with the technology, equipment, and enhancements needed for the success of our faculty and students. Distinctive naming opportunities range from $50,000 to several million. Your investment in the UC Santa Barbara Library will ensure that scholars for generations to come will be empowered to explore their passions in the pursuit of new knowledge that benefits us all.
