Committee on Professional Development (CPD)
Annual Report 1994-1995

The Committee on Professional Development oversees travel and research by LAUC members. CPD members: Christine Oka (Chair), Patrick Dawson, Sherry DeDecker, Adan Griego and Jim Markham.

* Travel request procedures were amended by the University Librarian. A call, announcement or registration form was a required attachment for each travel request submitted. This put the library TR procedure in compliance with the campus academic community.

* The University Librarian supplemented the LAUC travel budget of $9,900 (under the bargaining agreement figure) by $5,000 for FY 1994/95. This gave the Travel Committee a budget of $14,900.

TRAVEL: During the fiscal year, all funds in the budget were expended.

RESEARCH: There were two calls for funding LAUC research proposals. Three proposals were reviewed on the first call; the second call produced six proposals. The Statewide Committee on Research recommended funding for five proposals. The top-ranked unit pr oposal for funding was Mary Larsgaard's project, "Geologic Maps: An Introduction and Cartobibliography".
