Librarians Association of the University of California at Santa Barbara
Minutes of the LAUC-SB Executive Committee Meeting
May 14, 1998
At LAUC-SBs request, Deputy Director Cecily Johns spoke with the Executive
Committee regarding vacant positions, and shared information about several
other matters.
LAUC-SB had expressed its desire to fill the vacant Humanities
Librarian's
position as a priority. Cecily reported the Library Administration is
being cautious about spending due to the need to keep the NOTIS system
running for as much as a year until Acquisitions and Serials components of
DRA Taos are operational. There was some discussion of beginning the
recruitment process. Cecily asked the group to get back to her regarding
LAUC's recommended priority for filling positions, considering the most
recent vacancy and Carol Doyle's position.
Cecily encouraged LAUC-SB to respond to the draft of the "Systemwide
Libraries' Advisory Structure, 1998 - 2001," which is scheduled to be
implemented in July. SOPAC will continue to meet. Cecily reported that
while CDC, HOPS, HOTS and HOS will still exist as constituted groups,
emphasis will be on appointing issue-oriented task forces that can
respond in a timely fashion to expedite planning and decision making.
