LAUC Santa Barbara
Executive Board meeting
October 4, 1996
Present: Rosemary Meszaros (chair), Sharon Bullard, Patrick Dawson,
Andrea Duda, Chuck Huber, Catherine Nelson, Beverly Ryan
In accordance with the LAUC Bylaws, Catherine Nelson has been
confirmed by the Executive Board as the new CAAR Chair replacing Adan
Griego. CAAR can add another committee member if needed.
Randy Kemp has been appointed as a Temporary Librarian
beginning Oct. 1st. He is working with the Alexandria Project in MIL.
Randy received his MILS in December 1995 from the University of
Michigan. He will be formally introduced at a LAUC membership meeting
later this
month.
A General Membership meeting has been tentatively scheduled for
Thursday, October 31 at 9:00. The meeting may take place in MIL with a
demo of project Alexandria.
The Executive Board will meet with Joe Boisse on October 10.
Rosemary gave a summary of the recent statewide LAUC meeting:
Satatewide Committee charges were discussed, they are still in
draft form
LAUC homepage, including conversion of the info on the gopher
Digital Library project draft, when the Digital Library Project
Initiative is received it will be forwarded to LAUC-SB
Substitute librarians
W. Elliot Brownlee and M. Stuart Lynn are convenors of a technology
conference to be held sometime in March at UCLA -- no dates scheduled
at this time. The conference is still in the planning stages. Also
involved in the planning: Gary Lawrence, Martha Winnacker, Mary
Stephens. Lauc will be involved in this conference. Focus will be on
digital library topics.
Fall LAUC Executive board meeting is November 7th.
Fall Assembly is scheduled for November 8th. Both at UC-Berkeley.
Featured speaker will be Richard Lucier. His topic will be the
UC digital library initiative.
There was a brief report from CPD.
Travel money is being spent quickly.
No research proposals have been received.
